British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Fatal Car Crash
The British boxer Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos confirmed on Wednesday evening. The athlete was involved in a car accident in the Lagos area on the 29th of December, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
Joshua had been receiving medical attention while healing from his light wounds, representatives stated earlier on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.
“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” the official remarked.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two trusted companions.”
The news of his discharge arrives after the boxing community offered its support for the champion in the wake of the heartbreaking incident.
