Former Treasury Secretary Summers Steps Down from AI Company's Directors
Ex-Treasury chief Larry Summers is exiting the directorate at the artificial intelligence firm, just days after a batch of digital correspondence between him and late convicted sex offender the accused trafficker became publicly available.
Summers stated in a statement that he was "thankful for the chance to have participated, excited about the promise of the company, and look forward observing their progress".
The prominent academic, who previously headed the prestigious university, stated on recently that he would be withdrawing from public roles due to his association with Jeffrey Epstein.

The freshly disclosed messages revealed that the official exchanged messages with Epstein until the day before Epstein's 2019 arrest for suspected human trafficking of minors.
In additional comments, the AI firm expressed it accepted the economist's decision to resign.

This announcement follows after the entire Congress of Congress agreed on recently to approve a legislation that would require the US justice department to release its files on Epstein.
The measure will subsequently move to the office of the White House for approval. He has stated he expects to sign the measure, after modifying his stance on the matter following objections from his supporters.
